Grimes - Oblivion
I was rounding out my 35th hour awake when I found this song. It took up a pretty valuable ten minutes while I was writing my research proposal, as I ended up submitting it with 15 seconds left on the upload deadline. I’m very happy I found it.
Grimes has been around for a little while and what she considers to be her debut album is being released January 2012. This song is, much to my surprise, produced entirely on the preloaded Garageband software that comes on Apples. It’s so impeccably crafted and polished into such a dark shine that I, at least, am amazed. For all that, it’s uncomplicated and insidiously dancey, her whisper-lisp creeps right up to your ear in a sweaty disco-dive—“Coming up behind you always coming and you never have a clue.”
